unfeed privacy

effective 19 October 2026applies to the unfeed Chrome extension

short version

unfeed has no servers. It does not collect, sell or share your data, and it has no analytics or tracking. Your settings, stats and (if you sign in) your Google name, email and profile picture are stored in your own browser and nowhere else.

What unfeed does

unfeed is a browser extension that hides distracting parts of YouTube, such as Shorts, the home-feed recommendations, Up Next, end screens and ads. It runs only on https://www.youtube.com/*. All of its work happens inside your browser.

Data unfeed stores

Everything below is kept with Chrome's built-in extension storage on your device. None of it is sent to the developer or to any third party.

DataWhyWhere
Rule settingsRemembers which rules and preset you turned on, and any pause timer.chrome.storage.sync
Usage statsCounts things like Shorts blocked and ads skipped per day, shown only to you in the popup.chrome.storage.local
Google profileOnly if you sign in: your Google account ID, name, first name, email address and profile picture link. Used to show who is signed in and to unlock signed-in features.chrome.storage.local
Sign-in statusTemporary state while sign-in is in progress. Cleared when the browser closes.chrome.storage.session

If Chrome sync is turned on in your browser, Chrome may sync your rule settings between your own devices through your Google account. That is handled by Chrome under Google's privacy policy, and the developer cannot see it.

Google sign-in

Signing in is optional. When you choose "Sign in with Google", unfeed opens Google's own sign-in page using Chrome's identity API and asks only for the openid, email and profile scopes. Google returns a signed token, which unfeed checks and then reads for the profile fields listed above. The token itself is not kept.

unfeed never sees your password, never gets access to your Gmail, Drive, YouTube account or any other Google data, and never sends your profile anywhere. Your profile picture is loaded from Google's image servers when the popup shows it.

unfeed's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

What unfeed does not do

Deleting your data

Children

unfeed is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Changes that affect how data is handled will also be mentioned in the extension's release notes.

Contact

Questions about privacy can be sent to the developer through the contact email listed on unfeed's Chrome Web Store page.
